Did you know Americans produce 254 MILLION TONS of trash each year? And landfills are one of the leading contributors to greenhouse gas emissions? Our planet has a trash problem and we want to help. Tare Market helps regular people reduce waste and fight climate change by providing a place to shop for everyday goods, waste-free. We offer package-free and plastic-free food and sustainable living supplies, along with education and community activities around eco-friendly topics.

Because we crushed our crowdfunding goal and hit our first stretch goal of an additional $1,500, we have set a second stretch goal for another $1,500 to help us strengthen our offerings in the health and beauty section of our space. This is an area that our customer base has been asking for. At Tare Market, we really want to meet people where they are at and not shame anyone who creates waste. We believe that the more people involved in this movement, the bigger our impact will be.
This additional $1,500 will help us bring zero waste makeup into our space, including mascara, blush, eye shadow, lipstick, foundation, and more. We are sourcing these items from zero waste and low waste manufactures who offer their items in bulk, glass, or refillable compacts. Help us get there by donating today!
Introducing Tare Market, Minnesota's first zero waste store!
Born out of a need for a local resource to help people reduce their waste and overall carbon footprint, we are excited to open our permanent location in South Minneapolis to better serve our community.
At Tare Market, customers can bring their own containers (or borrow some from us), to shop our robust bulk selection. We will offer shelf stable foods, health and beauty items, and household sustainable living products (e.g. reusable straws, bulk cleaners, and compostable dish brushes). All items at Tare Market will be free of non-recycled plastic, and as local and organic as possible. We strive to find the high quality products that are good for you and for the planet, and work with vendors to reduce upstream waste as well. Tare Market will also offer classes and events for members of the community to come together and learn strategies to improve the health of our planet.
